A new start

Hi all, sorry it has been such a long time since my last post. I have had 9 months from hell and haven't felt up to doing much both blog wise or art wise. Happily things are much better now! I have given up my teaching job so I can focus on spending time with my little person and this has meant that I also have lots more free time in the evening to work on my projects! I have tried to focus on getting a video up on YouTube at least once a week since the start of the summer holidays and I have posted the links to my new videos below. I am still working as a demonstrator for Docrafts and so a lot of these projects are based around the new Docrafts releases.

Unboxing video of the new July releases from Docrafts
Embossing folder techniques using the new embossing folders from Xcut and how to get more from your folders
Process Video - Layered Card using the beautiful and versatile new papers and dies from Docrafts
Scrapbook Process Video using the new Papermania Capsule Pigment collection from Docrafts
Scrapbook Process Video using mixed media techniques

Let me know if you like what you see and please subscribe to my channel to see more of my projects. If you would like to know any of the products I used then please drop me a message and I will be happy to respond.

Intermittent but still here!

Hello all, I say all but I don't think I have anyone subscribing to my blog just now! I apologise anyway for the intermittent posts! It is a struggle to keep up a blog and to also hold down a teaching job, be a mummy to a toddler and also create art. I have been creating like a mad woman for the craft fair I was invited to on the 3rd December to sell my wares. I wanted to have some Christmassy things as well as my usual items so I haven't had much time for anything else. Sadly it was a pretty unsuccessful day. There was very limited footfall and in the end I made very little profit. This has definitely knocked my confidence. I wish I had the time to take more commissions but I just don't feel I can when I cant guarantee them to be ready by any certain time. Anyway, here are my new pieces, I thought they were a big improvement on my older work but maybe I was wrong.

Be Youtiful

Two videos up in less than a week!! It is quite amazing what you can accomplish when planning and marking aren't part of the equation....except they are and I MUST get more work done before half term is over!!! Anyway, here is another one, a commission for a dear family member to take to Australia. I started using canvas board to make it lighter for packing and discovered I so much prefer it to actual canvas. Much easier to stamp and stencil onto when it doesn't give! I am converted! Its a piece inspired by an Australia artist (coincidence) called Julie Ryder whose work is a billion times more beautiful and accomplished than mine so please also visit her blog here:

A special canvas for a special person

After we met my cousin for lunch on the way up to Scotland it struck me what a generous and giving person she is. She has gone through some really tough times recently with her health and she is only 25 so I wanted to do something really special for her that would reflect what an amazing person I think she is. So I made her this. I hope it reflects the generous and beautiful spirit she has. I also made a process video for it which can be viewed here:

docrafts demonstration!

Yesterday I demonstrated docrafts Christmas collection for them in the Range in Glouscester. Only the biggest paper crafting company in the UK!! It was like having a lovely crafty coffee morning only it lasted all day. I really enjoyed myself so I'm really hoping they take me on a more permeant basis, in which case i will be doing a demo every three months or so. Here are all the things I made with a link to the docrafts website where you will find step by step instructions and a list of products I used.

Altered Kettlebell

So I wanted to make a really individual present for my friends 40th birthday, especially since I couldn't be at her birthday party as I had a wedding to go it. She is completely crossfit mad and trains everyday and after seeing a few altered bottles online I thought it would be really cool to do an altered kettlebell for her! I bought this one in Sports Direct for £10 and it took me over a week to fully finish but that's mostly because my little pocket rocket keeps me busy during the day! Here is a picture of the final piece and a link to the video on how I made it. A list of products used can be  found below. Hope you like it!
